Lebanon’s Cedars Mutual Fund was created in 2010 (license number 188 from the Directorate of Cooperatives and Mutual Funds of the Ministry of Agriculture) is a secular philanthropic organization which operates for the benefit of all Lebanese without discrimination based on religion, color, or political affiliation and in the spirit of equality, dignity, and inclusiveness.

The Fund is a non-profit organization that provides services to its affiliates and beneficiaries. The Fund’s work is supported by planning processes that protect the Fund’s investments through compulsory reserves and by its legal structure which exempts its projects from Lebanese taxation and other operational restrictions. The capabilities of the participants in this project and its stable well-organized structure are the keys to the Fund’s stability and success.

The Board of Directors adopted the principle of mutual and interdependence in the provision of services and care by stimulating the spirit of participation of all members of Lebanese society to serve one another. Every Lebanese citizen needs his Lebanese brothers and sisters in the face of the crises that afflict our society, and protection of the spirit of coexistence between the peoples of this country is of paramount importance.

Meet the needs of Fund members, and those of the Lebanese population, for medical care, social development, and educational support in accordance with evidence-based practices and with the laws governing the operation of mutual organizations in Lebanon.

The Purpose of the Cedars Mutual Fund:

The Cedars Mutual Fund was founded in 2010 (License Number 188) with the aim of providing services to associate members whose conditions of affiliation comply with the regulations and laws in force at the Lebanese General Directorate of Cooperatives of the Ministry of Agriculture. The Cedars Mutual Fund has total independence in administrative matters.
The Fund’s main objectives are to work for the benefit of its members and their families, based on the principle of “Care is the Basis” through – Solidarity and advancement in the provision of services and care. – Promotion of sustainable community development. – Involvement of individuals to achieve Lebanon’s development. – Inclusion of our youth.

Core Principles:

  • Those who are able to care for others in need must do so.
  • The family is the main pillar of society, regardless of sect, religion, or political affiliation.

The Fund views each family in Lebanon as a metaphorical branch of the ancient Cedars of Lebanon, the symbol of the country. For the Cedars of Lebanon to remain strong it is necessary to care for and support their branches. The family is the nucleus of our society.

How We Work:

The Fund’s Guidance Office directs needs assessments of the local health and social service environment using health and social work specialists and academics, and the Fund collaborates with NGOs and pastoral institutions in their humanitarian work in the following sectors:

  • Health Care.
  • Academic.
  • Social Development.
  • Educational Development.
  • Environmental Protection.
